Käreitär, kettunen emuu

"Käreitär! Kettunen emuu! Käreitär! Olen täällä!"
Night sky is tinted with sparks of fire
Spirits look amazed at her fiery walking
Through the forests and the snow-covered lands
Her passing is marked, in the celestial sphere
Arctic enchantments infesting the realm of Ukko
And the eyes of the dead, rising from the ground
It's the vision born from the black fox's tail
And even cruel Kalma and Tuoni, surrender to the Bliss
"Käreitär! Kettunen emuu! Käreitär! Olen täällä!"
Upon the Hiisi Castles, veiled in snow
Trees chant the apparition of the endless flying flames
Dancing in strange harmony with the stars
And among them the eyes of Mother Käreitär stand
She watches her lonely daughter, the Tulikettu
Howling and shooting her fires in the night
Revontulet, the enchantment of the fox fires
A thousand swords of burning light dissolving the dark!
"Käreitär. Mother. You blessed me with solitude...
Käreitär. Mother. You blessed me with cold...
Käreitär. Mother. You blessed me with magic...
Käreitär. Mother. Watch me blessing the night."
Whispers resonate and echo in the air
It's the silent voice of trees and leaves, watching
The nightly magic, evolving in the sky
They witness as it illuminates a new figure standing
A man it is, walking through the winter night
He's struggling against the fury of ice and wind
He's firmly holding a spear, its blade is shining
By the cold crystal light of the Revontulet
He's a hunter, standing before the fox's den
Created and hidden by her in warm earth, under snow
Now she comes out, woken by the man
That stands in front of her, with the spear held high in hand
AAAAAHHHH!! In her heart! Came the blade! Of the spear!
He's so proud! Skinning her corpse! Under moon! Shining now with funeral light!
Silently in the woods, snow begins to burn emanating a strange glow. It melts, it moves, it merges with earthen flesh, forming a strange hole. It is a womb, powered by the magic of the Hiisi, standing at the birth. Flesh, entrails and fur generate from the fire womb. Finally, she's born, again, laid in a bed of leaves and ashes. The new cycle of the Tulikettu... yes...
"Käreitär... mother. You blessed me with death!"
"Olen täällä! Olen täällä! Käreitär... äiti..."

Black Dog of Tuonela

Many years ago, a wise man living in the woods
Travelled through the realms, from Tuonela to Pohjola and back
Once he came back to his home, he was not alone
For he was carrying a black creature, breathing steam and fire
It was an iron-haired hound, made of iron and copper
The wise man took it from Tuonela, saying with a warm voice
"You cannot scare me, o' fiery iron hound
For you will be my friend and guard, against the coldest dark"
Eggs I'll feed you, so you'll grow strong
In chains I'll teach you to eat flesh and bones
Of the ice witches, and all of my foes
My fiery friend born in the Underworld!
With the passing of the days, nights and seasons
He teached the iron dog to guard him and to hunt
Walking through the way of the shamans
Marking the passage with its burning thorns and its fire breath
Through the woods, the caves, the mountains
and the earthern valleys covered with grass, or snow, or bloody bones
The wise old shaman defeated solitude and fear
For he now has the faithful hound, his friend and guard, against the coldest dark!
Eggs I'll feed you, so you'll grow strong
In chains I'll teach you to eat flesh and bones
Of the ice witches, and all of my foes
My fiery friend born in the Underworld!
The Moon Goddess slowly covered the land of the Finns with her nightly veil, and sweetly illuminated the snow and the forest, hissing by the voice of the cold wind.
Mother Kuutar couldn't know that the wind was covering a ghastly presence, and the trees, blinded by the snow, couldn't see that this horrible being was standing before the house of the old shaman.
A daughter of cold I am
Spawn of the tenth child of Loviatar
Spectres breathing ice
Queens of the darkest witchcraft
Bleak howling winter wind
Conducted me before your nest
O' old man, alone and weak
For I will triumph and take your life!
"You're wrong, o' ugly witch!
For I a black dog own,
a hound of iron hue
by him I’ll have the eater eaten
I’ll have the biter bitten
Its mouth is burning with fire
its throat is glowing with flame
its teeth resemble cinder-rakes
with a tongue shoved in between
of iron is its heart composed
of copper the entrails in its paunch
It has eaten already a hundred men
destroyed a thousand full-grown men
By it I’ll have thee eaten up!"
It will bite thee bones and all!
It will crunch thee bones and all!
Till thou canst not shake thy head!
Till thou canst not draw thy breath!

Call her moonchild, dancing in the shallows of a river
Lonely moonchild, dreaming in the shadow of the willow
Talking to the trees of the cobweb strange
Sleeping on the steps of a fountain
Waving silver wands to the night-birds song
Waiting for the sun on the mountain
She's a moonchild, gathering the flowers in a garden
Lovely moonchild, drifting on the echoes of the hours
Sailing on the wind in a milk white gown
Dropping circle stones on a sun dial
Playing hide and seek with the ghosts of dawn
Waiting for a smile from the sun child

Pakkasen Luku

Siitä Ahti Saarelainen
lykkäsi venon vesille
kuni kyyn kulon-alaisen
eli käärmehen elävän.
Läksi luoen luotehesen
tuolle Pohjolan merelle.
Silloin Pohjolan emäntä
Pakkasen pahan lähetti
tuolle Pohjolan merelle,
ulapalle aukealle.
Itse tuon sanoiksi virkki,
sekä käski jotta lausui:
Pakko poika pienokainen,
oma kaunis kasvattini!
Lähe tuonne, kunne käsken,
kunne käsken ja kehoitan!
Kylmä veitikän venonen,
pursi lieto Lemminkäisen
selvälle meren selälle,
ulapalle aukealle!
Kylmä itseki isäntä,
jää'ä veitikkä vesille,
jottei pääse päivinänsä,
selviä sinä ikänä,
kun en pääsne päästämähän,
kerinne kehittämähän!
Pakkanen pahansukuinen
ja poika pahantapainen
läksi merta kylmämähän,
aaltoja asettamahan.
Jopa tuonne mennessänsä,
maata matkaellessansa
puut puri lehettömäksi,
heinät helpehettömäksi.
